When I was but a child

You walked away

and said goodbye

how could you leave me when I was but a child?

I felt abandoned

lost on my own

you were my guiding light

and then you said goodbye

years passed away

life went on

dreams shattered

love forgotten

but I remembered

I kept my promise to you

but you walked away

and said goodbye

how could you leave me when I was but a child?

though I continued on

lost on my own

wandering the world

trying to find the answers

answers to the impossible

I cried for so long

I think I’m all dry

a desert inside the once upon an oasis that you built

but you walked away

and said goodbye

how could you do that when I was but a child?
