Good Evening Readers,
Happy Fourth of July! Happy Birthday, United States of America! You’re 238 years old. Congrats.
When I was a child, my favorite song was “The Star Spangled Banner.” In the early 1990s before the mandate of car seats for children, I would stand up whenever I felt like it and sing at the top of my little lungs the national anthem.
I knew nothing about it or what it represented but I loved the melody and music of that song.
When I became older, upon research of other song lyrics my Brother found out that the national anthem actually is a longer poem with only the first verse set to music. None of the rest of the poem (lyrics) fit to the music. Check out the Library of Congress’ Star Spangled Banner page for more on the history of the song.
Try it out and tell me if you can get the rest of the poem to fit to the tune of the first. 😀
